THE PROBLEM.

Last week I was downloading a book on my Android phone (MTN-S620) using the app ADM which can resume stopped downloads.

I took my eyes from the phone to relax and do some self-hypnosis using my mixture of self-made Alpha 7.5hz binaural beats and isochronic tones.

After the ten- or fifteen-minute session I opened my eyes and saw that my phone had apparently rebooted on its own. The phone took a long time “optimizing apps” before the main screen showed. I also felt the phone being painfully hot when I held it in my right hand.

After the booting I saw that my Internet no longer worked. I checked my SIM cards in the drag-down panel and saw the message “No SIM card”.

I stayed calm. I thanked God that at least the phone still worked. I could still listen to music on it, and read books on it using WPS Office, my favourite ebook reader for Android.

I removed the SIM cards, put them back in, and rebooted phone, and the message remained. I assumed the SIM card reader was bad, physically (in hardware).

The next day I went to a cybercafé where you buy a ticket allowing you to use the Internet for an amount of time, on one of the computers there.

In Google.com I typed “android phone cannot detect sim cards”, and found web pages that offered solutions to the “no sim card” problem.

MY SOLUTION.

I will share the pages with you after telling you how I solved my problem. I tried to solve it by turning on airplane mode and then turning it off, but that did not work.

I was eager to know if the problem was with my hardware or software and did not want to waste time, so I decided to do a factory reset of my phone quickly. I copied my important files to a computer and did factory reset on the phone. After that I had to re-install apps and copy my files back to the phone, but now the SIM cards were showing. So it was a software problem.

WARNING: Be careful when doing factory reset because you will lose this:

- All installed apps

- Everything in the phone storage, like your phone CONTACTS, downloaded files, music, internet configuration (for Orange Cameroon in my case), and videos.

ACTION: Remove your SIM cards, your memory cards, and any external devices from your phone to avoid them being erased when you do Factory Reset.

You can use an app like Apk Extractor to convert your installed apps into APK files (Android installation files), then you copy the apks elsewhere, and after resetting your phone you can install those apks back into your phone.

I want to share with everyone the knowledge of this program: HD Video Converter Factory.

I discovered it because I had recorded my voice (as positive affirmations) on my Android phone, and the audio came out in 3gpp format , which I believe is a bad format because after listening to the audio several times, its quality got worse and worse until I could not understand what my voice was saying.

So I wanted to convert the 3gpp format to something like mp3, which would have good quality. I searched on Google.com for “convert 3gpp to mp3”.

I downloaded it because to me it was “better than nothing”. I thought it would not satisfy me.

It converted my 3gpp audio to mp3 format, easily.

The mistake I made was that I did not know I could choose audio formats by pressing the arrow at the right-corner place marked Output Format. Due to this ignorance I had assumed that the program was only for videos.

This was a lesson for me to not judge things by appearances, because now I love this program. It can do many things. It converts video to video, audio to audio, video to audio, audio to video, in many formats.

There are very many formats. Here are some examples.

VIDEO: AVI, MP4, MPG, MOV, VOB, DIVX, XVID, and others.

AUDIO: WAV, FLAC, MP3, OGG, WMA, Ringtone, and others.

MICROSOFT: Xbox One, Xbox, Win10 Tablet, Surface Book, and others.

GOOGLE: Android Tablet, Android Mobile, Nexus 6, and others.

TV: Toshiba, JVC, Panasonic, and others.

WEB: HTML5, Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook, WebM, FLV, SWF, and others.

There is more than I have shown.

I may seem like an advertiser but I am not; I love the program and I think it deserves to be well-known. Some of the best things around us are not recognized: like a beautiful diamond hidden underground, which cannot be appreciated until it is uncovered for people to look at.

You are pulled through the doorway and into glaring white lights. Joanie and Sid tumble out after you.

You gaze up at the creature. You start laughing when you realize the face that scared you was only a gorilla mask!

The man takes off his mask and winks at you. He’s short and bald. “Had you going there for a minute, didn’t I, pardner?” he says. He sounds like your cousin from Texas.

The man drops the gorilla mask on the floor and picks up a giant cowboy hat. That’s when you notice he’s dressed head to toe in a cowboy outfit — jeans, cowboy boots, spurs. He helps Joanie to her feet, then shakes Sid’s hand.

“You’re just in time, pardner,” he tells Sid.

“In time for what?” Sid asks.

“In time for some real fun,” the cowboy answers.

You glance around. You are on a stage that has been decorated to look like a western ranch. Bales of hay are stacked around a fake barn door. A large wooden wheel painted red, white, and blue stands in the center of the stage.

What kind of place is this? you wonder. Then you feel something cold and hard pressed into your back.

A knife.

You peer over your shoulder at the cowboy.

“Stand aside, kid,” the cowboy says, flashing the knife blade at you. “You’re in my light.”

You don’t need to be told twice. “Sorry,” you mumble. You take a few steps back.

The cowboy strides toward center stage and positions himself in front of the wheel. He tosses the knife into the air and catches it behind his back. Then he tosses it up and catches it with his eyes shut.

Joanie applauds.

“My, what a cute little girl,” the cowboy says to Joanie. “Would you like to see another trick?”

“Sure,” Joanie says. Sid nods. You don’t think you ever want to see another trick in your life.

“Take your seats, take your seats,” the cowboy commands, waving Sid and Joanie toward folding chairs at the side of the stage. Then he turns to you.

You have a terrible feeling that you’ve been chosen to be part of the cowboy’s act. Right you are!

The next thing you know, the cowboy is strapping you to the wooden wheel.

“You be real still,” the cowboy instructs. “No wiggling.”

Now what? you wonder.

You watch the cowboy pick up four deadly looking knives.

Now you know you don’t like this.

“Excuse me,” you begin. But you are so frightened that you have trouble getting the words out.

The cowboy doesn’t hear you. He takes three knives in his left hand. The other knife he aims directly at your head.

THWANG! The knife thuds into the wood next to your left ear. That was close.

THWANG! A second knife cuts into the wood next to your right ear. That was even closer.

“Hey! Wait a minute!” Your voice comes out as a squeak. THWANG! The third knife thuds right above your head.

“And now for the grand finale,” the cowboy announces, “I will spin the wheel.” He strides toward you.

“Let me off this thing!” you shout. But the cowboy ignores your protest. He smiles at you, grasps the side of the wheel, and gives it a sharp yank.

Round and round you turn. The cowboy takes aim with the last knife.

“Noooooo!” you wail. You can’t look. You shut your eyes.

You open your eyes and sneak another look at the cowboy. It’s hard to see his face as you spin round and round. He seems to be concentrating very hard.

“Is this trick safe?” Joanie asks, her voice trembling. She sounds scared. It’s kind of nice to know she’s worried about you.

“I’ll tell you a secret, young lady,” the cowboy assures her. “It’s a trick knife. Completely harmless.”

“Cool,” Sid says. He and Joanie lean forward in their seats.

Maybe the cowboy knows what he’s doing, you think. You’ve seen this act in circuses before.

You shut your eyes just before the cowboy throws the knife.

“Ooooops! Wrong knife!” are the last words you ever hear.

How To Make Your Own Video Games, with Game Maker.

To make your own video or computer games, you do not need to learn coding or software programming.

There are programs (software) that make it easier for one to make a computer game.

One program is GameMaker Studio. In the past, about 2007 A.D., it was known as Game Maker.

I discovered Game Maker 7 in 2007 A.D. For many years before that, I had been daydreaming about making my own video games based on those that I liked, such as Heart of Darkness (Andy and his dog) on PlayStation 1, and Sonic & Knuckles on Sega Genesis.

The images in my mind were very clear. I even created game music in my head. I saw Knuckles climbing the wall of a tall tower in the sky while fighting flying creatures that could knock him down to his death. I saw a girl discovering Andy’s plane and using it for her own journey into the Heart of Darkness.

But I did not think I would ever make my own games. I assumed that those who made video games had to be very intelligent and know very complex things, such as “coding”.

I had been imagining making my own video games since about 2002 A.D. I daydreamed many kinds of adventures.

Then one day in July 2007 A.D., my life was forever changed. I was sitting at the computer one afternoon, in my town of Douala, Cameroon.

I did not know what to search for on Google.com. As I sat, I started thinking how nice it would be if I could play a game like Sonic 1 on the computer. I saw Sonic running in Green Hill Zone, in my mind.

I typed in the Google search bar: how to make a video game.

And suddenly, in the search results, I saw Game Maker mentioned. An appetizing message said something like “Create your own video games without writing a single line of code.”

I downloaded Game Maker 7 from the website, which was called yoygames.com .

I was very blessed. Today (1^st February 2019, Friday) if you type those same words in Google.com, “how to make a video game”, you may never see what I saw at that time, and so you might never discover Game Maker, or GameMaker Studio as it is called today.

So, to dispel ignorance and save time for those who still wonder how to make a video game, I wrote this information. There are programs that make it easy to make video games without you needing to learn complex programming languages.

You can start with these: Game Maker 5 and Game Maker 7.

This version has less system requirements than Game Maker 7. Some computers could not run games made with Game Maker 7, which led me to use Game Maker 5.3.

4. GameMaker Studio.

Game Maker 5.3, GameMaker 8.1.141 and Game Maker 7 make games only for Windows.

If you want a version of Game Maker that can make games for Windows and other platforms like Android, iOS, Mac OS X, HTML 5, Ubuntu (Linux), Tizen, Windows Phone 8, and others, then you can try GameMaker Studio 1.4.1522 or the latest version of 1.4: GameMaker Studio 1.4.9999.

There is also GameMaker Studio 2, but it runs only in 64-bit Windows. So if your Windows is 32-bit, you may be unable to use GameMaker Studio 2.

NOTE: Game Maker or GameMaker Studio is not the only software for making video games. You can search for others on the Internet. You can use a search engine like Google.com and you type: programs or software for making video games .
